JE Dunn employees showed the true meaning of community impact with an “All in” effort for their hometown Kansas City office. Multiple departments volunteered together and held numerous food and clothing drives (including collecting more than 1,000 boxes of instant mashed potatoes). The local Project Engineer Peer Group designed and built a shelter as a volunteer project for the historic Martin Luther King, Jr. Square Park. A serendipitous phone call from the Jackson County Family Court system led to a softball field renovation by a team of volunteers. Proceeds from the local employee golf tournament were matched by JE Dunn, funding a healthy corner store for an entire year in a local food desert.
JE Dunn built and was an initial funder for the new Pathway Financial Education center, providing access to high-quality free financial education in Kansas City’s urban core. Employees volunteered monthly at the neighboring park, across the street from our headquarters, picking up trash and planting flowers. The local Blacks United in Learning and Development (BUiLD) chapter spent a Saturday cleaning out an abandoned house to be turned into neighborhood-led affordable housing. From serving on nonprofit boards, to volunteering across the metro, participating in nonprofit events and more – JE Dunn is “Building Inspired Communities,” starting right here in our hometown.
